OUR STORY…

Promise Assembly of God was born from a simple truth: God’s plans are always better than our own.

After many years in ministry, our family (Covert) sensed that God was preparing us for something new. During a season of prayer and preparation, we worked diligently to align our hearts with His will rather than our own ambitions. We believe that God is not merely part of what we are doing—we are part of what He is doing. His timing is always perfect and always worth the wait.

As we sought direction for our family's future, we presented a written petition to the Lord. In it, we thanked Him for His faithfulness, stood on the promises He had spoken to our family, and committed ourselves to trust and obey Him while we waited. Within five weeks, God answered that prayer and opened a door for ministry in the DeWitt area.

Because this new chapter was founded on God's promises and faithfulness, we named the church Promise Assembly of God.

Our first gathering was held in November 2018 in a home on Williams Road in DeWitt. We remain deeply grateful to the family who generously opened their home and helped launch this ministry. As God continued to bless and grow the church, we eventually outgrew that space and moved to our current location at 210 W. Washington Street in DeWitt, formerly known as the DeWitt Memorial Building.

Today, Promise Assembly of God exists to welcome people into the family of God and share the hope of Jesus Christ with our community and beyond. We strive to create a warm, friendly environment where people of all ages can grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and discover God's purpose for their lives.

Early in this journey, the Lord gave us a simple phrase: "Watch and see." Those words continue to strengthen our faith and inspire us as we witness God's goodness at work. He continues to bless Promise, and we are seeing lives transformed every day.

This story is still being written—and you are invited to be a part of it.
